VULTURE, TURKEY - Cathartes aura

Also known as "turkey vulture", it is the most widespread representative of the Catartid family. Itís spread from southern Canada to the southern end of South America. It occupies a wide range of open and semi-open environments, such as subtropical forests, thickets, pastures and deserts. Itís a scavenger and feeds almost exclusively on carrion. Dimensions: 62-81 cm. Wingspan: 160-183 cm.
