SPARROW, SONG Melospiza melodia

Medium-sized New World sparrow. Among the native sparrows of North America, it is one of the most abundant, variable and adaptable species. Permanent residents of the southern half of their range, the northern populations of the songsparrow migrate to the southern United States or Mexico during the winter and mingle with the native and non-migratory population.Very rare in Western Europe, with some registered in Great Britain and Norway. Dimensions: 13-15 cm. Wingspan: 23-25 cm.
